Famous for being mentioned in the historic Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, this former quiet market town is yet again in the chronicles as HMRC officers burst into the boudoire of Richard Hillgrove and his wife , arresting them both for VAT Evasion, Tax Evasion and Money Laundering. The fact, later admitted by the CPS, that Lois Hillgrove never even had any involvement in the business, but was seriously distressed by the sudden intrusion, as were her aging grandmother and father who shared the house with them, had slender importance for the HMRC and Crown Prosecution Service, nor did the serious repercussions of the shocking events to follow...
